Local doctors, also known as general practitioners (GPs), look after the health of people in their local community and deal with a whole range of health problems. There are over 350 GP Practices throughout Northern Ireland
GPs provide a range of services including:
- medical advice
- physical examinations
- diagnosis of symptoms
- prescribing of medication
- health education
- giving vaccinations
- carrying out simple surgical operations.
- providing ongoing care for more longstanding or chronic conditions
- some GP Practices provide an online Appointments Booking or Repeat Prescription service (via their practice websites)
