At the annual Pharmacy in Focus Awards, chair of the Mid Ulster ICP, Robert Tasker, picked up the illustrious Pharmacist of the Year Award, for her services to her patients and the community. At the same event Eoghan O’Brien, one of the community pharmacy members of Antrim/Ballymena ICP, was awarded for his diabetes work in Portglenone, with his pharmacy picking up three awards.

Deirdre McCloskey, a community sector member of  the Antrim and Ballymena ICP, and  who leads the Mid and East Antrim Agewell Partnership, received the Leading Forward in Transformation across HSC Award at the prestigious CO3 leadership awards.

The judging panel commented that Roberta – a pharmacist at Cookstown’s Boots branch –  demonstrated enthusiasm, commitment but importantly, an exceptional portfolio of achievements that have undoubtedly enhanced the reputation of Northern Ireland pharmacy.

Eoghan’s Bannside Pharmacy scooped the Working in Partnership, Enterprise with Pharmacy and the Health Promotion Awards.

More than 500 professionals attended the ceremony in Belfast’s Titanic Centre.

Meanwhile, the C03 awards which honours charity bosses who have done the most to help transform lives in Northern Ireland, highlighted Deidre’s vision for an integrated community development approach to health and wellbeing for older people.

“Without Deirdre’s particular enthusiasm, dedication and ability to bring people together, many projects which have made such a difference to the lives of older people locally, as demonstrated by the wealth of outcomes, would not have happened”, the judges said.

Speaking at the ceremony at La Mon Hotel, Deirdre said: “I’m feeling so proud and overwhelmed. A massive thank you to all of my Board, staff, volunteers, funders and friends. I couldn’t do it without you.”
