Belfast to host integrated care workshop

7th October 2019

A workshop, looking at integrated care policies and practice in Northern Ireland, will be held in Belfast later this year.

Hosted by the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC) Ireland, the event on 29 November will examine the challenges and opportunities for integrated health and care in Northern Ireland.

Chaired by the Health and Social Care’s Director of Integrated Care, Dr Sloan Harper, IFIC Ireland was established following the successful hosting of the IFIC’s annual conference in Dublin in 2017. It brings together researchers, clinicians and managers from around the world who are engaged in the design and delivery of integrated health and social care.

The Belfast event in the Waterfront Hall will include speakers Dr Tony Stevens, Chief Executive of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust, Deirdre McCloskey, Project Co-Ordinator Mid and East Antrim Agewell Partnership, Professor Max Watson, from Project ECHO NI and Dr John Winter, chair of Ards Integrated Care Partnership.

As part its programme of activities a series of webinars are underway, including one held on 8 October entitled Implementing Integrated Care in Northern Ireland, where Dr Harper and Martin Hayes, Programme Director for Integrated Care, outlined the role of ICPs and Project ECHO in driving integration in Northern Ireland.
