Patients at Cleland Park Surgery in Bangor now have access to improved facilities following a £0.5 million investment aimed at enhancing healthcare services in the local community. The project, completed in November 2023, was funded through the Department of Health’s (DoH) and Primary Care Infrastructure Development Programme.

In Consulting Room
The extension was essential, as Cleland Park Surgery had been operating at full capacity. The additional space enables the practice to accommodate Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) services, such as physiotherapy, mental health support, and social work, improving patient access and efficiency.
Leanne Holmes, First Contact Physiotherapist, said: “Before the extension, I often had to move rooms or work in spaces that weren’t fit for purpose. Now, I have a spacious, purpose-built clinical room that allows me to work more effectively and provide better care to patients.”
The improvements also include a new common room, additional consulting space, and a dedicated area for pharmacists. Dr Jonathan Howe, GP Partner, highlighted the impact of these changes: “Our MDT extension has been a game changer. The additional space allows our growing team to work more effectively, and feedback from patients has been overwhelmingly positive.”

New Admin Office space
The enhanced facilities will future-proof GP services in the North Down Federation area, ensuring patients continue to have access to high-quality healthcare in a modern, well-equipped setting.
