Northern Ireland’s Mental Health Strategy 2021-2031 sets out a vision for the future direction of mental health services in Northern Ireland.
In line with this vision, a Regional Mental Health Service is being established to implement arrangements for joined up working across key mental health partners including Health and Social Trusts, community and voluntary sector and primary care services.
The set-up of the Regional Mental Health Service is a priority action of the Mental Health Strategy 2021-2031. Its core objective is to provide people across Northern Ireland with equitable access to high quality, consistent and locally based mental health
services. The service will be shaped and designed through:-
- greater collaborative working across primary and secondary mental healthcare
- full integration of the community and voluntary sectors
- involvement of people with lived experience of mental health services
This will enable the delivery of consistent and integrated mental health care to all citizens of NI regardless of where they live.
