Sign Language Interpreting Service – update on Sign Language Interactions

10th January 2023
The British Sign Language sign for 'trust' or 'sure'

We wanted to give you more information about our recent announcement that that Sign Language Interactions will provide a regional Health and Social Care Communication Support Service for people who are Deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing.

Who are Sign Language Interactions?

Since April 2020 Sign Language Interactions has provided the existing Remote Sign Language Interpreting service and will now deliver the joint online and face to face service.

It will work with local interpreters and organisations, providing access to the BSL and ISL communities and our deafblind and hard of hearing service users.

Over the years Sign Language Interactions has built up a strong and professional relationship with Health and Social Care users, as well as positive and responsive working relationships with HSC staff at all levels.

We look forward to this new joint way of delivering equal access to health and social care services to users who are at the heart of our service.

We are meeting regularly with Sign Language Interactions and will continue to update you on how the service will work when it starts in April 2023.
