Regional Dementia Care Pathway – Supporting Each Person’s Individual Journey

The Regional Dementia Care Pathway sets out our vision for high quality dementia services in Northern Ireland.

By 2051 it is estimated that there could be 60,000 people living with a dementia in Northern Ireland. An early diagnosis  enables people to receive treatment and care which helps them live independent and fulfilling lives in their own community. Early diagnosis and support enable people to make their own decisions about their care and to make plans for the future. Learn more about the signs and symptoms of dementia at nidirect.

The Dementia Care Pathway describes the care that a person with dementia may receive from when they consult their GP with concerns about symptoms such as short-term memory loss, and are diagnosed with dementia, through to the end of their life. It has been developed using the expertise of people working in dementia care and seeking the views of people living with dementia and their families and carers.

The Dementia Care Pathway includes provision for younger people with a dementia and people with learning disability.
