Northern Ireland Cancer Network (NICaN)

Northern Ireland Cancer Network (NICaN)

The Northern Ireland Cancer Network is a regional clinical network that links together the organisations that provide care for people with cancer across the five Health and Social Care Trust areas.

NICaN is a partnership of the Health and Social Care (HSC) organisations, academics, charities, cancer specialists and service users, working in collaboration to deliver safe and effective care, improve cancer clinical outcomes and to enhance patients and carers experience and quality of life.

NICaN does not deliver patient care, however, it works closely with service users, health professionals and managers to improve cancer services and to implement national NHS and local HSC strategies.

Living with and beyond cancer

As a result of improvements in cancer care treatment, more people are surviving cancer and some may be living with long-term side effects or late effects of their treatment. This has led to a greater focus on the needs of cancer survivors.

The ‘Living with and beyond cancer’ section of our website aims to support people to enjoy life and to support and empower them to remain well. This section provides a searchable list of services available in your local area for example:

o          clinical support,

o          self-management programmes,

o          physical activity programmes and

o          support groups.
