Community Planning
Helping to shape your local community
Northern Ireland’s 11 Councils have been responsible for leading on community planning since April 2015.
Community planning provides an opportunity for public services to work in partnership to address local problems, deliver better services and make a real difference to people’s lives. Community planning also enables processes to be put in place to ensure local people and communities are genuinely engaged in decisions that affect them.
As part of the community planning process, we work with each of the Councils and other community partners, including the Public Health Agency, local Health and Social Care Trusts and voluntary and community groups to develop draft Community Plans.
A new Integrated Care System (ICS) is currently being developed for Northern Ireland which will harness the strengths in our existing partnerships to plan, manage and deliver our health and social care services based on the specific needs of the population.
